CHUCK RIESENBERG - PRESIDENT

Mr. Riesenberg has more than 40 years of experience in all facets of community development finance and affordable housing development. In 1992, he formed Community Capital to focus on affordable multifamily development using Section 42 tax credits, including acquisition, new construction, rehabilitation & preservation, rural development, homeless & supportive services and project based Section 8. As a developer, Mr. Riesenberg frequently partners with local HRAs, cities, and non-profits. 

Prior to forming Community Capital, Mr. Riesenberg was a Vice President at First Bank (fka U.S. Bank). In 1982, he created the second oldest bank-owned Community Development Corporation (CDC) and managed it nationally for 10 years. He started and managed four housing tax credit funds that financed over 4,000 low income housing units under his leadership. 

Throughout his career he has authored several professional books on community development finance, including: Principles and Practices of Community Development Lending, Geo-Analysis Resources: Analyzing and Using Geo-Based Information to Improve Bank Lending Performance, and Preservation Housing: Financing the Preservation of Affordable Rental Housing - A Guide for Underwriters. In addition, he has developed training programs for the Boston and Minneapolis Federal Reserve Banks, Greater Minnesota Housing Fund, and American Bankers Association. Mr. Riesenberg is a founding member of the ABA's committee on Community Development Lending and the National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders. 

Mr. Riesenberg holds a master’s degree in Urban Planning from Southern Illinois University with advanced graduate work in Public Administration at the University of Southern California, in addition to post graduate work at Oxford University.
